Anthony J. Davies

Tony Davies has over 35 years of experience, managing production in the preparation of patent drawings. He continues to help train Patent Drafters and illustrators, overseeing quality control and liaising with Attorneys, Agents, and their legal support groups. During his many years of experience, he has helped transitioned drafting from board-only to a 100% CAD capability. 

Tony was certified by the City & Guilds of London Institute as a Technical Illustrator in 1972. Davies & Gathercole, Inc. benefits from Tony's many years of experience in General and Technical Illustration. Working for Wadham Artists and then moving to Hill Gordon studios in London, Tony moved on to the US and began his working career in the US as an employee of Guild, Inc. located in Silver Spring and Hyattsville Maryland, at that time, where he specialized in Illustration and Airbrush rendering, for a period of two years. After a brief six months of full-time employment with Booz Allen & Hamilton, Tony took his skills to the law firm of Oblon, Fisher, Spivak et al., while he carried on as a part-time consultant to Booz Allen for a further two years. During this period Tony became a US citizen. 

After six years of employment as a Patent Draftsman at Oblon, Spivak, and working under the partnership name of Davies & Gathercole for a period, Tony moved on to Quality Patent Printing, assisting them as they moved from a solely foreign patents printing firm into a fully-fledged patent services business. 

At Quality Patent Printing, Inc., he took with him the philosophy of providing a customized and personalized service. Having gained knowledge through seeing the progress of high numbers of drawings making their way through the Patent Office, he, like all members of the company, believes in sharing his insights and keeping clients informed on recent Patent Office objections and trends that might affect their filings. Today, he continues to offer a highly personalized service through the drafting team at Davies & Gathercole, Inc. Tony shares a joint interest in music with his wife Jan, who is a professional singer and musician. Although no longer an active participant, Tony played in The City of Alexandria Scottish Pipe Band for thirteen years and has played with various jazz and dance bands, as a drummer, since his teens. He has three daughters: Eleanor, Alison and Sarah and nine grandchildren.
